Heart Health

Keeping your heart healthy is in your hands and its something you can do every day.

Your diet, how much you move, whether you smoking, your cholesterol levels and blood pressure all have an impact on your overall heart health.

We believe in monitoring these so you can stay in control with the advice of our friendly pharmacists.

Blood Pressure Testing

When we check your blood pressure, we are measuring the pressure of your blood on your arteries as your heart pumps it around your body.

If your blood pressure is high over a long period of time, it becomes one of the main risk factors for heart disease. With age, the risk of you having high blood pressure also increases.

Keeping an eye on it can help you to make any necessary changes sooner rather than later.

Cholesterol Testing

Your body produces cholesterol naturally and it also found in certain foods. There are two main types of cholesterol:

  1. High-Density Lipoprotein: HDL or ‘good cholesterol’.

  1. Low-Density Lipoprotein: LDL or ‘bad cholesterol’.

You body needs cholesterol to function normally but having high cholesterol is not healthy for your heart. 'Bad cholesterol' can stick to the walls of your arteries and build up into plaques, which create blockages. These factors in turn contribute to a higher risk of heart attack or stroke.
